dc.description.abstract A field experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of Sber-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from November 2007 to February 2002 to investigate the effect of different seed tuber and mulch practices on growth and yield of potato. The experiment was conducted with three types of seed tuber; seedling tuber from TPS (Ti), microtuber from tissue culture (T 2 ) and traditional tuber (T3 ) and four mulching teatments no mulch (M0), straw (M 1 ), water hyacinth (M2) and black polythene mulch (M3) . The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 12 treatments combinations and three replications. The highest yield of tuber (25.71 tlha) was obtained from T1 and T3 gave lowest (21.46 tlha)..On the other hand M3 gave maximum yield of tuber (27.92 ton/ha) and M 0 gave minimum (19.56 tiha). For combined effect T1 M3 gave maximum yield (31.67 dIm) and minimum (14.70 slIm) was obtained from T2M0 The highest benefit cost ratio (19) was obtained from T,M3 and the lowest (1.6) was obtained from T 2M0 .So seedling tuber with black polythene was best for growth and yield of potato. en_US
