dc.description A Thesis Submitted to the Department of Horticulture Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE (MS) IN HORTICULTURE en_US
dc.description.abstract The experiment was conducted at the Horticultural Farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, during the period from October 2007 to March 2008 to determine the effect of planting time and growth regulators on the growth and yield of cauliflower. The experiment consisted of two factors; Factor A : Planting Time - 3 levels such as Pi: Early planting at I November; P2: Mid planting at 15 November and P3: Late planting at 1 December; Factor B: Plant growth regulators - 4 levels, such as Ho- No Hormone (control); H1: 10 ppm IAA (Indole-3 Acetic Acid); H2: 70 ppm GA3 (Gibberelic Acid) and H3: 10 ppm IAA + 70 ppm GA3. The experiment was laid out following Randomized Complete Block Desgin (RCBD) with three replications. In case of planting time highest plant height at harvest (63.82 cm), curd diameter (22.82 cm), marketable yield per hectare (28.11 t/ha) was recorded from P2 and the lowest was recorded from P3. In case of growth regulators highest plant height at harvest (63.25 cm), curd diameter 022.65 cm, marketable yield per hectare (29.88 t/ha) was recorded from H3 and the lowest was recorded from Ho. Combination of planting time and growth regulators the highest plant height at harvest (67.46 cm), curd diameter (25.75 cm), marketable yield per hectare (31.03 t/ha) was recorded from P2H3 and the lowest was recorded from P3flo. The highest benefit cost ratio (2.20) was noted from the combination P2H3 and the lowest (l.59) was obtained from P3Ho. From economic point of view, it is apparent from the above results that the combination of P2H3 was more profitable rest of the combination . en_US
