dc.description.abstract An experiment was carried out with 32 genotypes of lirassicu rapa iticluding two conimercially cultivated varieties as cheeks to study their inter-genotypic variability, correlation. patti co-efficient and genetic divergence considering 10 dilkrcnt morphological characters at the experimental farm ol' SAL). Dhaka durinu November 2009 to February 2010. Significant variation was observed among all the genotypes for all the characters studied except thousand seed weight. fligli (X'V value was observed for number ut secondary branches per plant. High heritability values along with low genetic advance in percentage of mean were obtained for thousand seed weight, number of secondary branches per plant, seeds per siliqua, and siliqua length. l-lighlv signiticant positive association of seed yield per plant was observed with number of' primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant. number of siliqua per plant. Path analysis showed that, yield per plant had the highest direct effect on number of primar' branches per plant, number of siliqua per plant, number of secondary branches per plant and number of seeds per siliqua. By using different multivariate analysis techniques all the genotypes "crc grouped into 6 clusters. PCA. P('O and CV'\ analysis gave almost similar result. ('luster Ill had maximum (II) and cluster IV and cluster V had minimum (2) number of genotypes. The highest inter-cluster distance was observed between cluster I and V (21.871). The intra cluster distance was the highest (0.469) in cluster V. The lowest inter-cluster distance was observed between cluster II and III (4.237). Moderate or intermediate distance was found between cluster Ill and V (12.718), cluster II and IV (10.372). Considering group distance and the agronomic performance, the inter genotypic crosses between C-I S. 0-15, 0-3 & 0-15, 0-4 & C-IS. 0-10 & 0-15, c;-l5 & 0-18 and G-I9 & 0-24 liirther considering the magnitude of genetic distance, contribution of different characters towards the total divergence, magnitude of cluster means for different characters and field performance the genotypes 0-I5 and 0-19 from cluster IV and (i-I, 0-3. G-4, 0-10, 6-I8 and 0-24 from cluster I would be suitable for highest yield per plant br future hybridization programme. en_US
