The main purpose of this study was to determine farmers’ satisfaction on livestock extension
services and to explore the relationship between each of the selected characteristics of the
livestock farmers like age, level of education, farming experience, livestock farm area,
annual family income, percentage of income from livestock, daily time spend in livestock
farm, training exposure, extension media contact and innovativeness with their satisfaction
on livestock extension services. Data were gathered from randomly selected 110 farmers of
two unions (Panchkhola, Rasti) of Madaripur sadar upazila under Madaripur district by using
personal interview schedule during the period from 10
th
October to 25
th
November, 2019.
Pearson’s Product Moment Co-efficient of Correlation was used to examine the relationship
of each of the selected characteristics of the farmers and their satisfaction on livestock
extension services in Bangladesh. The findings revealed that 62.73% of the respondents had
low satisfaction, while 31.82% had medium satisfaction and 5.45% had high satisfaction on
livestock extension services. Correlation co-efficient indicated that among the ten selected
experimental variables, only five namely, farming experience, livestock farm area, income
from livestock, extension media contact and innovativeness of the farmers had significant
positive relationship with their satisfaction on livestock extension services. The rest five
variables namely, age, level of education, annual family income, daily time spend for
livestock farming and training exposure of the farmers did not show any significant
relationship with their satisfaction on livestock extension services. Based on the findings, it
may be concluded that government, non-government and private livestock extension
providing organizations of Bangladesh should review their extension services to take
appropriate action for increasing farmers satisfaction on livestock extension services. |
