Abstract:
The present study was undertaken with the aims to investigate the effect of nitrogen
and potassium which influence the growth and yield of kohlrabi in the field
condition. The experiment was conducted during the period from November 2017
to January 2018 at Horticulture farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University,
Dhaka. The experiment was performed with Randomized Complete Block Design
which consists of two factors viz., four levels of nitrogen fertilizers; N
: Control,
N

:100Kg/ha, N

:120kg/ha, N
:140kg/ha and three levels of potassium fertilizers
viz., k

: Control, K

:100kg/ha, K
:120kg/ha. The results indicate that the
morphological parameters and the reproductive components, as well as yield were
influenced significantly among the treatments. The highest plant height (35.75cm),
number of leaves plant

(10.33), knob length (7.38 cm), knob diameter (5.00 cm),
weight of knob (168.66 g), dry matter content of knob (7.16 %), yield per hectare
(16.06 t/ha) were obtained from treatment combination N

. Hence it can be concluded that 140 kg/ha nitrogen and 100
kg/ha potassium gave the better growth and yield performances of kohlrabi.
