dc.description A Thesis Submitted to the Faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE (MS) IN AGRONOMY SEMESTER: JANUARY- JUNE, 2018 en_US
dc.description.abstract A field experiment was conducted at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University farm Dhaka, Bangladesh during November, 2017 to March, 2018 in rabi season with a view to study the growth and yield variations in chickpea as influenced by fertilization and sowing date. The experiment was carried out in split plot design with three replication. The treatments consists of four fertilization levels as F 0 =Control ( No fertilizer ) , F = Recommended dose of fertilizer (45kg urea ha -1 + 85 kg TSP ha -1 1 + 35 kg MP ha -1 + 12 kg boric acid ha -1 ) R , F 2 = R + cow dung (3 ton ha -1 ) , F 3 = R + vermicompost (2.5 ton ha ) and three sowing date as S 1 =07 November , S 2 =19 November ,S = 02 December. Data on different parameters yield and yield contributing characters were recorded and variation was observed. Results indicated that the maximum height of plant (30.30, 48.14 at 60 and 90 days after sowing (DAS) respectively , maximum number of branches (5.97, 27.32, 39.87 at 30, 60, 90 DAS respectively ) , maximum pod plant -1 (70.00) , maximum seed yield (1.71 t/ha) , HI% (53.51) were obtained from treatment F fertilization . On the other hand maximum values for plant height (15.18, 31.27, 50.52 at 30, 60,90 DAS respectively) were found from treatment S 1 3 sowing and for branches (30.88, 39.58 at 60 and 90 DAS respectively) from S 1 sowing but pod plant (86.03) , seed yield (1.32) and HI%(49.34) was obtained from treatment S sowing . The highest value of plant height were observed (15.93 at 30 DAS) from treatment combination F 2 S and (41.13, 53.30 at 60, 90 DAS respectively) from treatment combination F 3 S 1 Highest value for branches (6.55 at 30 DAS) from treatment combination F 2 S 1. and (50.72, 54.00 at 60 .90 DAS respectively) from treatment combination F 3 1 S 1. Maximum number of leaves (34.46 at 30 DAS) from F and (152.85, 326.11 at 60, 90 DAS respectively ) from F Maximum number of pod plant -1 (114.60) and seed yield (2.54 t/ha) from F and maximum HI% was obtained 65.14 from F 2 S . From the results of present study it can be concluded that manure like cowdung and vermicompost influenced crop production considerably whereas sowing date has less effect on crop production. 1 3 2 S 1. -1 3 3 S 2 2 -1 S 1 en_US
