An experiment was conducted in the farm of Sher-e-Rangla Agricultural
University. Dhaka. Bangladesh during the period from August to December 2013
to study effects of combined application of inorganic phosphatic. potassic
fertilizers and vermicompost on growth, yield and nutrient contents of BRRI
dhan57. Ten fertilizer treatment combinations have been considered for this
experiment, which were as follows: 1-0 = control, T, = recommended dose of
chemical fertilizers + 0% vermicompost, 12 = 0% inorganic P + 100% p from
vermicompost., T1 = 25% inorganic P + 75% p from vermicompost. T4 = 50%
inorganic P ± 50% P from vermicompost., 'F5 = 75% inorganic P ± 25% p from
vermicompost, 16 = 0% inorganic K + 100% K from vermicompost. T7 = 25%
inorganic K ± 75% K from vermicompost. T8 = 50% inorganic K + 50% K from
vermicompost and 19 = 75% inorganic K + 25% K from vermicompost. The
experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with
three replications. Data on different growth & yield parameters, nutrient contents
in grain & straw, nutrients uptake by grain & straw were recorded. The highest
plant heights (25.76, 54.24. 83.42, 97.81 and 117.93 cm at 30, 45, 60, 75 DAT
and harvest respectively), the longest panicle (28.37 cm). the highest grain yield
(4.88 t had ), the highest straw yield (6.23 t ha"), the highest N. P. K. S and Zn
concentrations in grain (0.713%. 0.307%. 0.377%, 0.126% and 0.0153%,
respectively) and the highest N. P. K. S and Zn concentrations in straw (0.488%.
0.080%, 1.158%, 0.086% and 0.0049%, respectively) were recorded from
treatment T. For most of the parameters best results were found in treatment T8
which was statistically similar with treatment T4. The results of the study showed
that the optimum performance of rice can be obtained from the combined
application of vermicompost and chemical fertilizers. |
