The experiment was conducted at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SATJ) farm,
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, Bangladesh during the period of July 2011 to November
2011 to study the effect of sulphur and boron on growth, yield and nutrient content of T.
aman rice. BRRI dhan 30 was used as the test crop in this experiment. This experiment
was laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD). There were sixteenth
treatment combinations comprising of four levels of sulphur (0. 8, 12. 16 kg ha1)
designated as S0. Si. S2 and S3 and four levels of boron (0, 1. 1.5 and 2 kg ha4)
designated as B0. B1. B2 and B3 respectively. In case of individual effect of sulphur the
maximum plant height (116.96 cm), number of effective tillers hill4 (9.09), panicle
length (25.64 cm), number of filled grains panicle1 (102.42) and grain yield (4.89 t hi')
was recorded in Si treatment (12 kg S hi') . The straw yields were almost similar in
different levels of sulphur except So treatment. Application of 1 kg B hi' produced the
highest number of effective tillers hill (8.98), particle length (25.73 cm), filled grains
panicle' (97.60), grain yield (4.99 t ha") and straw yield (7.08 t hi'). There was no
significant effect of boron on number of unfilled grains panicl&'. and 1000-grain weight
of BRRI dhan 30. The treatment combination of S2B1 (12 kg S ha4 + I kg B ha1)
performed better than other treatments in present trial considering number of effective
tillers hilr', number of panicle length. filled grains panicle", grain yield and straw yield
of T.aman rice (BRRI dhan 30). The nutrient concentrations of N. P. K, S and B in grain
and straw increased with increasing levels of S and B. From the view point of grain yield
and nutrient content, the treatment combination of S2B, (12 kg S hi' + 1 kg B ha4) was
considered to be the suitable dose of fertilizer for T. aman rice. |
