dc.description.abstract |
An experiment was conducted in the central research fam of Sher-e-Bangla
Agricultural University. Dhaka. durimi the period from October 2013 to March
2014. to study optimizing the productivity and profitability of onion seed by
appropriate management of organic manure and bulb
size. The experiment
consisted with two factors. Factor A: Four combination of organic manures such
as M1
= control.
M2 —
IS tfha Cowdung4-l0 vim Poultry manure. M
3 15
I/ha
Cowdung-'-2.2 tiha Mustard oil cake and
M4 15 i/ha Cowdung±l0 t/ha Poultry
manure 12.2 t/ha Mustard oil cake. Factor B; Four sizes of onion bulbs such as
S1 =2g. S
,
4g. 5; = 6g and S1
= 8g. The experiment was laid out in a
Randomized Complete Block Design with 16 treatment combinations.
Application of' different organic manures and bulb size significantly influenced
by plant height and number of leaves per plant at different growth stages
., days
required to first bolting. number of umbels/plant, days required to first anthesis.
number of seeds per umbel, seed yield per plant, per plot and per heclare, weight
of 1000 seeds and seed vigor index. But it did not show any significant effect on
seed germination (%).The maximum seed yield 567.3 Kg/ha with net income
(1k 126.07.65) and BCR (2.74) was obtained from M
4S4 treatment combination
which was statistical]' identical to M
4S3
treatment combination and the
minimum seed yield
185.3
Kg/ha with net income (11 245086.2) and BCR
(1.61) was observed from M
1 51
treatment combination. Thc BCR (2.94) from
Mi
S treatment combination is higher than BCR (2.74) from M
1 S1
treatment
combination. So economic analysis revealed that the M.,S
3
treatment
combination appeared to be the best for achieving higher productivity and
profltahi I ity ofonion
seed production. |
