Abstract:
The study was conducted in Kapasia Upazila of Gazipur District to find out the
attitude of farmers' towards FINA. Among the total 968 farmers total 100 were
selected as sample by using a Table of Random Numbers. The independent variables
were: age, level of education, family size, farm size, annual lamily income.
organizational participation, FINA experience, extension media conLct, agricultural
knowledge and problem faced by the farmers during conducting F[NA. Among the
total farmers old aged farmers constitute the highest proportion (52 percent) and the
lowest proportion was made by the young aged category (21 percent). Among the
total respondents farmers 41 percent of the farmers were primary level educated
followed by secondary level educated (40 percent), only 9 percent had above
secondary level education, 3 percent were illiterate and 7 percent can sign only. The
medium family constitutes the highest proportion (46.0 percent) and is the large
family had the lowest proportion (11 percent). Marginal farm holder constitutes the
lowest proportion 11 percent compared to 25 percent large farm holder and medium
farm holder constitutes the highest proportion (64 percent). The farmers having high
annual family income constitute the highest proportion (37 percent) and low annual
family income (31 percent) constitute the lowest proportion. The medium levels
organizational participation constitutes the highest proportion (53 percent) and high
level participation (25 percent). The low FINA experience constitutes the highest
proportion (52 percent) followed by medium experience (14 percent) and the 34
percent respondent had in FFNA experience. About (58 percent) of the respondents
had medium media contact while 31 percent had high media contact and 11.0 percent
low media contact. It means that an overwhelming majority (69 percent) of the
farmers had low to medium extension media contact. The majority (45 percent) of the
respondents felt in sound knowledge category followed by 43 percent in moderate
knowledge
category. The farmers have minimum problem category represent the
lowest proportion (19 percent) and serious problems (54 percent) constitute the
highest proportion. About two third (64.0 percent) of the farmers belongs to moderate
attitude compared to 20.0 percent low and 16.0 percent highest attitude. Pearson
Product Moment Correlation co-efficient was computed in order to find out the extent
of relationship between the dependent variable and independent variables. Level of
education, farm size, organizational participation. FENA experience, extension media
contact, agricultural knowledge and problem faced by the farmers during conducting
FINA showed significant positive relationship between farmers' attitude towards
FINA.
