Abstract:
The main purpose of the study was to determine and describe the extent of
adoption of BRRI dhan 29 production technologies by the farmers and to explore
the relationships between the selected characteristics of the respondents and their
extent adoption of BRRl dhan 29 production technologies. The study was
conducted in Shambhag union covering two villages of Dhamrai upazila under
Dhaka district. Data were collected from the farmers by using a pre-tested
interview schedule during the period from 15th July to 17th August 2007. From the
study it was found that the highest proportion (74 percent) of the farmers had high
adoption of BRRI dhan 29 production technologies compared to medium (26
percent) adoption of BRRl dhan 29 production technologies. Pearson Product
Moment Correlation(r) test was used to ascertain the relationships between the
concerned dependent and independent variables of the study. Findings revealed
that education, farm size, annual family income, commercialization,
cosmopoliteness and extension contact showed positive significant relationship
with their adoption. On the other hand age, family size and organizational
participation did not show any significant relationship with their adoption ofBRRI
dhan 29 production technologies.
