The purposes of this study were to find out the Effectiveness of Agricultural Activities of
World Vision in Gazipur, to determine and describe the selected characteristics of the
World Vision beneficiaries, the effectiveness of agricultural activities of World Vision
and to explore the relationship between the selected characteristics of World Vision
beneficiaries with the extent of effectiveness of agricultural activities of World Vision as
perceived by them. The study was conducted in twenty-one development groups and
seven villages of Gazipur sadar upazilla. Data were collected from a sample of randomly
selected I 05 beneficiaries out of total beneficiaries 525. The data were collected through
personal interview by using an interview schedule during the period from 201h February to
21st March 2006. Appropriate scales were developed in order to measure the variables.
Pearson's Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient (r) was computed to examine the
relationship between the concerned variables. Findings revealed that 72.4 percent of the
beneficiaries perceived medium level of effectiveness of agricultural activities of World
Vision as compared to 15.2 percent and I 2.4 percent perceived low and high
effectiveness respectively. Correlation analysis indicated that six characteristics of
beneficiaries namely education, family income, credit received, attitude towards World
Vision activities and participation in agricultural activities had significant positive
relationships with the effectiveness of agricultural activities of World Vision. On the
other hand, age had significant negative relationship. Farm size, organizational
participation, communication behavior and cosmopoliteness had no relationship with the
effectiveness of agricultural activities of World Vision as perceived by the beneficiaries. |
