In Bangladesh, potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) lacks optimum quality for export or processing&#13;
industries. Optimum utilization of specific plant nutrients can improve quality. The experiment&#13;
was conducted to evaluate the best dose(s) of phosphorus in combination with potassium sources&#13;
as they affect potato tuber quality. The experiment consisted the factors: phosphorus dose(4); P1&#13;
= 200 kg ha-1 TSP @ 42.55 kg ha-1 P; P2 = 220 kg ha-1 TSP @ 46.81 kg ha-1 P, P3 = 240 kg&#13;
ha-1 TSP @ 51.06 kg ha-1 P and P4 = 260 kg ha-1 TSP @ 55.32 kg ha-1 P, and potassium&#13;
sources (3); K1= KCl (250 kg ha-1 KCl @130 kg ha-1 K), K2 = KH2PO4 (452.19 kg ha-1&#13;
KH2PO4 @130 kg ha-1 K) and K3 = K2SO4 (288.6 kg ha-1 K2SO4 @130 kg ha-1 K). The&#13;
interaction of phosphorus doses and potassium sources affected most parameters studied. The&#13;
highest yield (35.35 t ha-1), caned (10.35 t ha-1), chips (28.06 t ha-1), and French fry (0.367 t&#13;
ha-1) were from P3K2, P4K2, P3K2, P3K1 respectively; the lowest yield (30.90 t ha-1), caned&#13;
(5.59 t ha-1) and chips (20.01 t ha-1) were from P1K3, P4K1, P1K3 respectively. The highest&#13;
dry matter (22.85%), starch (17.936%), antioxidant (630.12 Trolox μMol/100 g FW), and&#13;
polyphenol (92.994 GA mg/100 g FW) were from P1K3; the lowest reducing sugar (0.1713 mg&#13;
g-1 FW) and non-reducing sugar (0.3290 mg g-1 FW) were from P1K3. It appeared that 200 kg&#13;
ha-1 TSP @ 42.55 kg ha-1 P as a dose of phosphorus and K2SO4 as sources of potassium may&#13;
be a suitable combination to produce export and processing quality potato.

A pot experiment was conducted in the experimental field of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka during the period from November, 2020 to May, 2021 to find out the effect of rice husk as an bio-adsorbent to decontaminate As toxicity in potato. The experiment consisted of two factors. Factor A: Arsenic levels (4) viz., As0: control (0 mg As kg-1 soil), As1: 20 mg As kg-1 soil, As2: 40 mg As kg-1 soil, and As3: 60 mg As kg-1 soil. Factor B: Rice husk levels (4) viz., R0: control (0 g kg-1 soil), R1: 20 g kg-1 soil, R2: 40 g kg-1 soil and R3: 60 g kg-1 soil. The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized complete block design with three replications. Results revealed that As and/or rice husk had significant effect on arsenic load in different plant parts of potato t. Arsenic content in potato tuber flesh, peel, haulm and root gradually increased with the increase of its levels.  On the contrary, As content in plant parts decreased with increasing rice husk levels. The soil treated with As1R3 exhibited As accumulation in tuber flesh (0.1070 mg kg -1 fresh weight) and peel (0.443 mg kg -1 FW), respectively. As load in different plant parts was in the sequence: root &gt; haulm &gt; tuber peel &gt; tuber flesh. Although, the least As loading in tuber flesh was observed in As1R1, As1R2, As1R3 (range 0.1258-0.1070 mg kg-1 FW) which also showed higher productivity (range 402.67 - 416.67 g plant-1), but the treatment combination of As1R1 may be suitable for safe potato cultivation in lower level As contaminated soil. Therefore, potato growers can grow potato up to 20 mg As kg-1 contaminated soil treated with 20 g rice husk kg1 soil, which contains safe As load than the critical one (0.157 mg As kg -1 FW) for human consumption. So, application of rice husk for potato cultivation may a good option to reduce the arsenic hazards in lower arsenic endemic areas.

Aromatic rice is mainly attracted by the peoples of Asian countries for its pleasant fragrance and premium grain characters. Especially the people of Bangladesh are using aromatic rice from very ancient time for making different delicious food items like pulao, biriyani, firni, kacchi, payesh, pithapuli etc. during social festivals. The production of aromatic rice is increasing day by day in Bangladesh but not up to the mark to meet up the local demand. Moreover, the grain quality and aroma are not maintaining the premium characters for exporting to abroad. So, we should to know why such problems are facing on the future aspects of aromatic rice in Bangladesh.
