The Experiment was done to investigate the effects of dietary bacteriophage (BP) &#13;
supplementation on production performance and  status of  microflora in excreta  along&#13;
with carcass characteristics in broilers. A total of 600 day old  broiler chicks were reared&#13;
randomly allotted in 5 treatment groups having 4 replications R&#13;
1, &#13;
R&#13;
2,&#13;
 R&#13;
3 &#13;
and R&#13;
.Where each&#13;
replication contain 30 birds  for 5 weeks at SAU Poultry Farm, Dhaka-1207.These dietary&#13;
treatments  were designed as  T&#13;
0&#13;
 (Control diet), T&#13;
 (Control+ 0.5g Bacteriophage per kg&#13;
feed),T&#13;
2&#13;
 (Control+ 0.75g Bacteriophage per kg feed ) ,T&#13;
1&#13;
(Control+1g Bacteriophage per kg&#13;
feed) and T&#13;
4&#13;
3 &#13;
( Control+ANT 0.05g per Kg Feed). In broilers the inclusion of antibiotic   and&#13;
bacteriophages directly affect the feed intake (P= 0.002) among the five groups.BWG&#13;
(Body Weight Gain) in T&#13;
 group was  higher(2209.00 ±16.45 gm) which showed&#13;
significant differences (P&lt;0.05)  among the other  groups. LW (Live weight), FC( Feed&#13;
Consumption) and  FCR(Feed Conversion Ratio)  at the end of  5&#13;
1&#13;
th&#13;
 week were significant&#13;
(P&lt; 0.05)  in different group, however better BWG, LW, FC were found in treated group T&#13;
where BWG,  LW and FC were  2209.00 ±16.45 gm , 2251.00±16.45 gm &amp; 3069.00±22.70&#13;
gm respectively. Whereas FCR performance was positively correlated  with the levels of&#13;
bacteriophage given in the diet. Highest  FCR (1.39 ± 0.02) found in T&#13;
treatment. &#13;
However, there are insignificant effect  found in survivability (P &gt;0.05) at  35 days of age&#13;
of broiler .Bacteriophage group showed significant results    in  case of liver ,spleen,  heart&#13;
&amp; breast  weight  compared to control and antibiotic  except the  gizzard weight . Results&#13;
demonstrated that the average ammonia level was same at the end of the 1&#13;
 week ,&#13;
however it varied significantly  (P&lt;0.05)  at the 3&#13;
rd &#13;
&amp; 4&#13;
th&#13;
 weeks of age  (10.10±0.57 ppm &amp;&#13;
13.75 ± 1.02 ppm). But  at the end of 5&#13;
th&#13;
 week  T&#13;
2 &#13;
&amp; T&#13;
group showed highest ammonia&#13;
emissions (18.50± 0.65 ppm &amp;  18.25± 0.85 ppm respectively). Ammonia emissions  were&#13;
found lowest in T&#13;
1&#13;
3 &#13;
 (13.25±1.38 ppm).Flock uniformity demonstrated   significant&#13;
differences between the control and T&#13;
Group (67.72± 4.27 %.).The lactobacillus  was&#13;
significantly (P&lt;0.05) lower   in antibiotic  and control group rather than the  bacteriophage &#13;
supplemented diet .  T&#13;
1 &#13;
1 &#13;
showed highest lactobacillus (3.97 ± 0.13 CFU/ml) and T&#13;
 showed&#13;
the  lowest (0.43± 0.07 CFU/ml). In conclusion, it can be said that , bacteriophage&#13;
supplementation has beneficial effects on production performance of broiler and it  can &#13;
expand  the beneficiary microbes in guts of  commercial broiler chicken.

Today the use of insecticides, pesticides, etc. in the crop field and the unavailability of&#13;
croplands due to urbanization causes a major threat to pigeon farming in the extensive&#13;
system. So, now it is time to give attention to commercial farming through the intensive&#13;
method of pigeon housing. The goal of this research work was to investigate the&#13;
vitamins and selenium on the growth and reproductive performance of indigenous Gola&#13;
pigeon in the confinement-rearing system. A total of 16 pair of (3-month-old) pigeons&#13;
for a period of 9 month were used in the experiment. Pigeons were randomly distributed&#13;
into 4 treatment groups; T&#13;
0&#13;
 (Control), T&#13;
1&#13;
 (Basal diet + Vitamin A, D, E &amp; Se), T&#13;
2&#13;
 (Basal&#13;
diet + Vitamin B-complex) and T&#13;
3&#13;
 (Basal diet + Vitamin A, D, E &amp; Se + Vitamin Bcomplex)&#13;
having&#13;
4&#13;
replication.&#13;
&#13;
In&#13;
this&#13;
study,&#13;
feed&#13;
intake&#13;
(FI)&#13;
and&#13;
live&#13;
weight&#13;
(LW)&#13;
at&#13;
&#13;
23&#13;
week&#13;
showed&#13;
no&#13;
significant&#13;
differences&#13;
(P&gt;0.05)&#13;
among&#13;
the&#13;
treatments.&#13;
However,&#13;
&#13;
significant&#13;
differences&#13;
(P&lt;0.05)&#13;
were&#13;
found&#13;
for&#13;
LWG&#13;
and&#13;
the&#13;
growth&#13;
rate&#13;
of&#13;
pigeons&#13;
at&#13;
&#13;
12&#13;
to&#13;
23&#13;
week&#13;
of&#13;
age.&#13;
The&#13;
highest&#13;
LWG&#13;
and&#13;
growth&#13;
rate&#13;
were&#13;
observed&#13;
in&#13;
the&#13;
T&#13;
3&#13;
 group&#13;
(87.75g and 34.23%) which was treated with vitamins A, D, E, Se and B-complex,&#13;
whereas the lowest was in the T&#13;
2&#13;
 group. No significant differences (P&gt;0.05) were&#13;
observed in various treatments for the following parameters; egg production, egg&#13;
weight, hatchability and hatch percentage. But the highest hatchability (90.63%) was&#13;
noticed in the T&#13;
2&#13;
 groups. There was no significant difference (P&gt;0.05) observed for the&#13;
day-old weight of the squab. However, significant differences (P&lt;0.05) were found in&#13;
weekly live weight (LW), live weight gain (LWG), weekly growth rate (GR) and&#13;
dressing percentage (DP) of squab due to different supplementations. The highest LW&#13;
noticed in the T&#13;
3&#13;
 group was 159.35, 218.34 and 274.05g, respectively for the 1&#13;
&#13;
and 3&#13;
rd&#13;
 week of squab. The maximum growth rate of squab was detected in the 1&#13;
 week,&#13;
followed by the 2&#13;
nd&#13;
 and 3&#13;
rd&#13;
 weeks of age. Maximal DP was found in T&#13;
3&#13;
 (61.90%) and&#13;
then followed by T&#13;
0&#13;
 (61.54%), T&#13;
1&#13;
 (59.86%) and T&#13;
2&#13;
 (58.13%) groups. Whereas&#13;
survivability rate and FCR were not significantly influenced (P&gt;0.05) by different&#13;
treatment groups. Yet, better FCR (4.36) was obtained in the vitamins A, D, E, Se and&#13;
B-complex treated group than in other supplemental groups. Analyzing the above&#13;
research findings, it was obtained that pigeons fed with vitamins A, D, E, Se and Bcomplex&#13;
(T&#13;
3&#13;
) achieved superior results than others and had a very effective impact on&#13;
the growth and reproductive performance.

In the growing poultry industry, pigeon farming is an important agribusiness in&#13;
Bangladesh. According to most pigeon owners, common health issues in pigeons&#13;
include pigeon pox, Newcastle disease, salmonellosis, and the common cold. An&#13;
experiment was conducted to estimate the impact of different combinations of vitamins&#13;
and Selenium (Se) on the production performance and immune response against the&#13;
Newcastle disease vaccine. A total of 16 pair of Gola pigeon (3 months old) were&#13;
randomly assigned to 4 treatment groups namely; T0 (Control), T1 (Basal diet +&#13;
Vitamin A, D, E &amp; Se), T2 (Basal diet + Vitamin B-complex), and T3 (Basal diet +&#13;
Vitamin A, D, E, B-complex &amp; Se) having 4 replications. The treatment groups (T1, T2&#13;
and T3) were vaccinated with the Ranikhet disease vaccine and the control group was&#13;
kept unvaccinated. Performance indices indicated non-significant (P&gt;0.05) differences&#13;
in final live weight, live weight gain and feed consumption. Statistical analysis revealed&#13;
non-significant (P&gt;0.05) differences in egg weight values. However, significant&#13;
(P&lt;0.05) differences were found for egg production, shape index and hatchability in the&#13;
T1 (23.75), T3 (76.29) and T2 + T3 (87.50) groups respectively. The hemagglutination&#13;
inhibition titers of the experimental birds were significantly (P&lt;0.05) different and&#13;
higher individual titer was found in the vitamin A, D, E and Se supplemented T1 group&#13;
(272). The thymus length and width were the best in group T1, 12.75 and 4.25&#13;
respectively with a significant (P&lt;0.05) difference. From the study, it can be concluded&#13;
that supplementation of vitamin A, D, E and Se combination gave a better humoral&#13;
immune response against Newcastle disease vaccine, egg production, thymus length&#13;
and width; supplementation of vitamin B-complex separate supplementation gave only&#13;
a better response to egg hatchability, and supplementation of vitamin A, D, E, Bcomplex,&#13;
&#13;
and Se combination gave better performances in egg shape index and&#13;
hatchability.

The study aims to investigate how the COVID/19 pandemic has impacted the price of&#13;
chicken and chicken products. The current study was conducted using secondary data&#13;
collected from a relevant online database of poultry news portals. Data from one year&#13;
were collected of which six months were from the pre-COVID period (JulyDecember/2019)&#13;
&#13;
and six months from the COVID period (July-December/2020). A&#13;
structural questionnaire was prepared to collect the market price of chicken and&#13;
chicken products from eight divisions of Bangladesh. To collect the data 4 days of the&#13;
month were considered randomly taking a day from each week. Total (4 days x 6&#13;
months x 8 divisions) 192 days of data were collected taking 48 days each from preCOVID&#13;
and&#13;
COVID&#13;
periods.&#13;
Therefore,&#13;
the&#13;
plan&#13;
was&#13;
to&#13;
collect&#13;
a&#13;
total&#13;
of&#13;
(192x2)&#13;
384&#13;
&#13;
days&#13;
of&#13;
data&#13;
for&#13;
the&#13;
study.&#13;
The&#13;
results&#13;
showed&#13;
that&#13;
the&#13;
average&#13;
wholesale&#13;
price&#13;
of&#13;
live&#13;
&#13;
birds&#13;
&#13;
(Broiler chicken, culled white chicken and Sonali chicken), Shell eggs (Brown&#13;
and White) and Day-Old-Chicks (Brown, White layer and Broiler chicks) fluctuated&#13;
due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but no significant (p&gt;0.05) difference was found in&#13;
prices except live culled red chicken. The average wholesale price of culled red&#13;
chicken in Chattogram was 171.12±19.67 from July to December 2019 and&#13;
195.34±35.70 from July to December 2020. In Khulna and Rajshahi the wholesale&#13;
price of brown shell eggs decreased whereas in Dhaka, Barishal and Chattogram the&#13;
price was upward, but it remained unchanged in Mymensingh, Sylhet and Rangpur&#13;
during the COVID pandemic. The wholesale price of white shell eggs in Dhaka,&#13;
Khulna and Rajshahi showed decreasing trend during the pandemic but increased in&#13;
Chattogram. The wholesale price of white layer chicks was lowered by 21.43Tk,&#13;
23.79Tk and 31.03Tk in the COVID period than the pre-COVID period in Dhaka,&#13;
Barishal and Rangpur, whereas minor price fluctuation was observed in brown layer&#13;
and broiler chicks. The wholesale price of Sonali chicks was 15.67±3.50 in Rangpur&#13;
during the pandemic. The study concluded that the COVID-19 pandemic had a&#13;
negative impact on the poultry industry.
